Events Summary 2026

After each event, Malcolm the (terrible) Driver will post his witty reflections …

Wollaton Park April 2026

Hi Guys

Wollaton Park (Nottingham) -A very picturesque city centre course & with 1/2 decent weather. We were all greeted & welcomed warmly by the 26 Capitano … Laurence Beckett (Lorenzo Becketo): Who immediately added a new  comp to the day … “The Champagne Moment“. Scoring wasn’t easy but the course was in excellent shape for so early in our season so no excuses really.

1st P Wootton 36 – Midland Cup

2nd D Pickering 35

3rd G McIntyre 35

There were two twos and each received 9 balls! The Champagne Moment went to H Benjamin for vandalising the lost property box in the dressing room! With the new showers belting out plenty of hot water an excellent chicken pie for fodder WP showed its true class. It scores 8.0 on the driveometer  (would have been 8.5 but the Egyptian Geese were a bit to vocal!)

Regards

Malcolm X (EX Capitano)!

Portpatrick2026

NewtonStewartMonday: We were greeted by their excellent Steward who immediately madeus feel very welcome … decent weather and a lovely but quirky little course, where the greens weren’t at their absolute best but it served as an excellentwarm up venue. 7/10 on the DOM.

Stranraer Tuesday: a bit breezybut sunny although not warm …The course was in excellent condition for Apriland we all agreed that it was a true Challenge 8.5/10 on the DOM

Portpatrick Dunskey Weds-Friday: This place rarelydisappoints & this year was no exception. On Weds, the wind blew a hoolieand scoring was difficult but enjoyed by all players. On Thurs, the winddropped to gale force and again proved to be a good test for the team comp. Fridayjust a steady breeze but warm … for the main singles comp. Overall thecatering, staff and the Pro were excellent. But the course itself was the realjewel. Absolutely superb. The Captain’s speech was decent! The secretarydelivered his usual high standard of organisation. The entertainment providedby Elvis Parham & Englelbert Whittle was warmly appreciated by all who gotto hear them croon. Hospitality was fantastic and much appreciated. The wholePortpatrick thing has to be experienced to be fully appreciated & has beenarranged by Alan for the last 50 years for which on behalf of all theassociation, members and guests, both old & new, we thank you.

If you’venever been on this tour before you’re missing a treat … come next year and seewhat the fuss is all about… you won’t regret it. There were too many winners toname them all on here but the Northern cup winner and overall golfer of theweek was John Carter on 37 pts

Portpatrick Dunskey  take a bow 👏👏👏

9.75/10 on theDOM. It would have got a 10 but I was served a dodgy pint of Guinness last night
