2nd December 2018
I have pleasure in enclosing next year’s fixture list, which I hope meets with your approval. It’s good to mix old favourites with new courses.
I’m sure you will join me in wishing Peter Wootton a very successful year as Captain and John Carter as President.
In view of daylight our first and last meetings are 18 holes only.
We start our year on 12th April with a visit to Lincoln Golf Club, better known as Torksey. It is an excellent layout and is sand based which will ensure it is dry underfoot. The greens are excellent throughout the year and I know we will be made very welcome. Cost of the day is £40.00.
So far I’m pleased to report that I’ve already received 29 bookings for the Portpatrick week. If you are interested in attending please contact me – a great time is assured. Deposits are due by 10th December.
On 10th May we visit Wollaton Park Golf Club. Wollaton Park was the very first golf club I played and have not returned for many years so I’m really looking forward to it. We’ve played it a few times over the last 10 years and have always been made very welcome. It comes highly recommended by the Committee.
May 20th-24th sees the 26th World Championships being held at Willengen, Germany. I understand the majority of members going are driving as it’s only about 5 hours from Rotterdam. We have a very good turnout from BLHGA attending. For more information go to www.walg.org
Forest Pines Hotel & Golf Resort (near Scunthorpe) has been booked for our National Championships for Sunday and Monday 16th &17th June. We’ve held the championship there several times and is a popular venue. If you want to play in the National Championships it is important that I receive your application fairly soon as I need to ensure the hotel has both room and tee time availability. Single rooms especially are in high demand.
We visit Ladbrook Park Golf Club (Solihull) on 22nd July for our Captain’s Day.
Several members have already commented that it is an excellent venue and we are certain to receive a warm welcome. I do hope you can support the Captain on his special day.
We visit a new venue on 20th August – Cavendish Golf Club (Buxton). I’ve played the course with our former Secretary Roger Wood who is a member there. It is a little gem.
2nd September sees us return for our annual visit to Rotherham Golf Club, Thrybergh. John Carter has decided to hold his President’s Day here as we’ve had difficulty in finding a date at his own club (BuckinghamG C) In fact we’ve already booked his President’s Day for 2020! Rotherham is always in great condition so a lovely day is assured.
We will be holding our AGM there as usual.
Our last fixture is at Northampton Golf Club. This is a new venue and comes highly recommended by our President.
The fixture list is enclosed. Kindly contact me to let me know those that you hope to attend, and whether you might bring a guest (or more).
Very best wishes for your golfing year.
